CU NextGen is the CUSO dedicated to bringing next-generation technology to credit unions, helping them improve the service delivered to their members, the daily experiences of their staff members, and the efficiency of their operations.
CU NextGen is a partnership between Members Development Company, a consortium of 82 owner organizations – including 76 credit unions, and ClaySys Technologies, a technology company with leading products in the no-code application development, robotic process automation (RPA), and artificial intelligence spaces. CU NextGen builds on the work these two innovators have implemented within MDC’s collaborative network of progressive credit unions and represents our shared strategic initiative to deliver next-gen technology beyond the MDC network to credit unions across North America.

As the CEO of CU NextGen, Kent Zimmer continues his success in shaking up the credit union industry for the better.
For seven years, Kent helped lead Members Development Company, one of CU NextGen’s co-founders, first as the R&D CUSO’s Director of Finance and then as their Senior Vice President of Operations. During that time, he oversaw several of the CUSO’s strategic initiatives, including those that led to the creation of CU NextGen and MDC’s NextUP program, the credit union industry’s preeminent innovation training and development opportunity. Kent is no stranger to the needs of credit unions looking to grow and remain relevant in a financial services marketplace that continues to evolve with ever-increasing rapidity.
Kent brings a strong background in finance, project management, operations, and marketing from his previous career across multiple industries. He earned his bachelor of science in business administration from Northern Arizona University. Kent also brings with him to CU NextGen a determination to execute our vision to futureproof credit unions through the practical application of leading-edge technologies, solutions and next-generation innovation.

Hayley drives the world of banking forward as an innovative and member-focused leader. She has led the way with numerous automation and innovation efforts throughout several financial institutions across the nation. She also educates future economist as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern Indiana. During her time as a Senior Member of the BSA/AML Systems team, Hayley engineered technical design, galvanized code development, and drafted mathematical algorithms for money laundering scenario triage. As Vice President of Business Operations, Hayley enforces consistency and security to ensure a strategy that gives our clients confidence and control of the member experience. Her in-depth knowledge of economics and commercial credit inspires her to flip the script on the outdated perception of banking to an enhanced process that embraces technology to ensure quantifiable digital transformation.

Natasha collaborates closely with customers evaluating their business needs and works towards solutions with ClaySys Technologies’ next-generation innovation. As our Client Engagement Manager, she leads the charge in transitioning from a parameter-based environment to AI technology and strives to provide a curated client experience. Taking the financial industry by storm since 2008, Natasha delivers valuable experience in operations, risk management, and compliance. Natasha is noted for her recent contributions to development of the Financial Intelligence Unit concept that efficiently meets BSA reporting requirements by merging anti-money laundering efforts with a fraud program.

In addition to collecting bourbon, Legos, and Star Wars memorabilia, Digital Banking Product Manager, Clark Duncan, collects some pretty impressive titles. Like three “Mastermind” designations from the Credit Union Executive Society’s (CUES) Emerge program and the moniker “CU Rockstar” from CU Magazine. With a supporting background in member service, business development, training, and branch management, Duncan is a digital experiences innovator. His “Future Leaders in Innovation Program (FLIP)” earned him a finalist position in the CUES Next Top Credit Union Executive program. In fact, Duncan’s passion for innovation inspired him to speak at a Credit Union National Association conference on using innovation to attract and retain millennial members. A CUES Emerge Certified Credit Union Manager, Duncan is adept at implementing digital conversions and a big believer that technology can transform credit unions and their members’ lives.
